In 1966, our current president, Jerald Papesh started working for James D. Hall and Associates in Joliet. Jerry started as a member on a land surveying field crew and also provided his expertise of drafting by working on various project in the office. With some personnel changes at the company, it was determined a business name change was in order and Geotech, Inc. was established towards the end of 1966. Jerry continued pursuing his interests in the business, when he took a number of engineering classes at JJC.
The business became incorporated in 1970. Jerry discovered his true interests in land surveying, so much so that he specifically worked to obtain his professional land surveying license and in 1976 he received his license. In 1977, he became part owner of Geotech, Inc. as he ran the land surveying department and his partner ran the engineering department.
The business had its ups and downs, but overall continued to advance in experience and it became a front runner with technology. In 1993, Jerry took an opportunity to take full control of the business when his then partner looked to retire from the business. Geotech, Inc. became leader of engineering and land surveying, throughout the Joliet area and northeastern Illinois. In 1995, Jerry’s son, Christopher joined the company as employee in the field on a survey crew and in the office, drafting and learning the land surveying practice. In 2000, Chris earned his professional land surveying license as well.
The business continued to expand by providing a multitude of services to aid in design and land development. In 2013, Thomas Carroll was brought on to manage the engineering department and help lead Geotech, Inc.
